We have a 15 week old female Boston (she's been with us since she was 7 weeks old) and decided to get her a friend so we found a 7 week old male Boston. Right now they sound like they are going to kill each other. The female is constantly jumping on and biting the male puppy. Is this normal? How long will it last?

I have almost always had 3 Bostons. I've had Bostons all my life. My mother was a diehard Boston Terrier lover and it was she who introduced me to them. She had them while she was pregnant with me so I like to say that I had them since I was in my mother's womb.

I have two now because sadly my Lil Guy passed away on May 28, 2011, he would have been 13 in July.

But I wonder if anyone has noticed that Bostons seem to come in 3s?
So many have 3. And if you look at pictures or even Boston Terrier doormats there are usually 3. Just my imagination or have you noticed it too?

If you have access to a tree or anything you can tie a bungee cord to...Our Boston will jump and pull at something like that for hours, if we let him. But do watch for overheating! Dibbs won't stop! We have to make him most times! Also, Dibbs licks his paws and sucks his blanket...He is almost 6 years old and he still does these things. I don't mind. It comforts him somehow...
P.S. I think ALL Boston Terriers should have their own blanket! They get cold and they will almost always find a way to cover themselves up with it...:)....He will also chew on a rawhide bone until its destroyed....We buy the big ones...They last a day or so...;)

We have a 7 year old beautiful Boston Terrier named Madison (Maddy) - or as we like to call her our furry child Maddy - love of our lives! She really is! She's so smart and funny, she can communicate with us in her own little way and she really gets the joke if we're fooling with her. Our brilliant little fur baby is a bit of work, as she's always after us to keep her busy chasing a ball, or the hose, or with a kong or a stuffed toy.......it's exhausting. Lately we've been noticing that if she doesn't get enough exercise she tends to lick her paws or the duvet all night long. We've examined her paws closely and there doesn't seem to be anything there. We've even played around with her food and treats - to see if it might of been an alergy.

Does anyone have any ideas how to keep a Boston busy for hours without giving them constant treats. We're resorted to laser pointer which she enjoys chasing....but she's figured that out too and has lost interest somewhat. If anyone has any ideas that would be great.

I just stumbled across your website while looking at Boston rescues. I have my baby now but thinking of adopting another one ! Man, is my baby something, though!!! Almost 7 this November and she has been with me since she was 4 weeks old (yeah yeah yeah... she did not come from the best of breeders).

She is amazing though.

I have to agree with Jmarie asking those questions of juan. Like I said, my Millie did not come from a reputable breeder. Due to that, she has had a lot of genetic issues. Just in June, we had one eye removed (CERF testing is a huge thing before your breed) and we will probably have to have her other eye removed within the next three years. I have come to terms with it, although a lot of tears have been shed. But dang it! She is too cute and she is my winker!

But please, do not just breed just because they are cute!!! Because they are. I have always wanted one, and I do not regret ever having got Millie because I think I am lucky and she is one lucky girl to have someone who takes care of her as I do. However, with these babies, there are a lot of genetic problems to look out for. And these problems will cause the owner of these dogs (if they are proper owners) to pay $1000s downs the road over and above average Boston vet care.

Anyway, AWESOME site, and I will be around to check it out.

Thanks!

Hi, I am in my late 50's and throughout my life have raised many different kinds of dogs. About 11 years ago, I told my husband I wanted to buy a Boston. What are they? he quiered. I said you'll see. I bought my first Boston, and still had my dads Lhasa. I couldn't wait, so one year later I bought my second Boston. My husband thought I was crazy having 3 dogs, but I loved the Bostons sooo much I didn't care. Last Sept we lost Muggsy (dads Lhasa he was 15). I immediately ran out and got my first female Boston, Darla. She is the dog I always wanted. Energetic, brilliant. She is fearless. August of this year I lost my first Boston
Stymie after only 11years. So now I have 2. They are intellegent, obedient and fun dogs. I love the breed. I can go on and on but you need to have one to understand. Maybe in the future I will get a third again, but for now Darla (16 mo.) keeps me hopping.

Juan just curious why do you want to breed? do your dogs fit the standard of the breed? Have you had BEAR test done? CERF test done? If you are going to breed please do it responsibly! You should only breed to better the breed not just for fun or to make a buck. Do you know how many BT's are already in rescue? Do you have homes lined up for the pups? What will you do if you cannot place all of them?
