If you want to do something special for your Boston terrier on his/her birthday this year, try this awesome birthday cake recipe that’s specifically designed for your pooch!

Your Boston terrier will go crazy for this! You can also use this cake recipe for other special occasions you want to celebrate with your Boston.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• 1 egg
• 1/4 cup peanut butter
• 1/4 cup cooking oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/3 cup honey (optional)
• 1 cup shredded carrots
• 1 cup whole wheat or white flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Grease a 6 cup ring mold.
3. Combine the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla, and honey, if desired, in a large bowl; blend well.
4. Stir in the carrots and mix thoroughly.
5. Sift together the flour and baking soda and fold into the carrot mixture.
6. Spoon cake batter into prepared pan.
7. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes.
8. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes; then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

This dental dog treats recipe was developed specifically to address the needs of your dog’s teeth and gums.

These dental dog treats are not only delicious, but they also help exercise your dog’s gums and clean her teeth. I found this recipe over at Best-Dog-Treat-Recipes.com.  They have a lot of great recipes, so feel free to check them out.

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup honey
• 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
• 1 cup white flour
• 1/2 cup cornmeal
• ¼ cup spinach powder
• 1/2 cup oats
• 1/4 cup bran
• 1 T bone meal
• 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 1/2 cups water
• 1 teaspoon peppermint extract

Directions

• Mix everything with a mixer in a large bowl or place everything in your bread maker.
• If you are using a bread maker, set it for the dough cycle.
• When the dough is mixed, divide it into several equal balls.
• Roll the dough to a ¼” thickness.
• Use small cookie cutters to cut into shapes. The ones that I use are about 1” across.
• Bake at 300 degrees F for about 45 minutes. Check to make sure that the biscuits don’t get too dark.
• Turn off the oven and let them continue to dry overnight or for several hours.

Your finished product should come out very hard, and should not move at all when you press your finger into it. It’s good for the treats to be hard because it will help remove built-up tartar.

Feed your dog hard, crispy treats on a regular basis in order to maintain good dental hygiene. It’s also best to avoid feeding your dog table scraps. Human food often contains sugar and other substances that aren’t good for our pets.

Also, make sure to brush your dog’s teeth on a regular basis to keep her pearly whites, white!

I’ve always said that it’s worth spending a little extra money on your dog’s food. Because keeping your dog healthy with proper nutrition beats spending thousands of dollars on vet visits that could have been avoided with a healthy diet.

Boston Terriers are omnivorous, just like we are. That means they need a good balance of protein, grains, and vegetables. The proper balance isn’t always met with dog food you find at the grocery store or pet store.

Homemade Dog Food For Everyday Use

Ingredients:
4 cups uncooked rice
9 cups water
1/4 cup oats
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped fine
3 ounces liver, chopped fine
8 ounces ground beef (or chicken or lamb)
3 tablespoons corn oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), chopped fine
Cottage cheese or yogurt
1 cup brewer’s yeast
1 cup wheat germ
1/8 cup powdered kelp

STEP 1: Combine the following ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. 4 cups uncooked rice
9 cups water
1/4 cup oats
1 teaspoon salt

STEP 2: When your mixture comes to a boil add the following:

1/2 cup 2% milk
2 tablespoons parsley, chopped fine
3 ounces liver, chopped fine
8 ounces ground beef (or chicken or lamb)
3 tablespoons corn oil
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups vegetables (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, etc.), chopped fine

STEP 3: Stir frequently and turn down the heat. Cook on low heat for about 20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.

STEP 4: Spread the mixture into flat Tupperware containers. Let it cool and then cut into half cup squares.

STEP 5: Make the supplement mix. Combine the following ingredients:

1 cup brewer’s yeast
1 cup wheat germ
1/8 cup powdered kelp

STEP 6: Feed your dog! When feeding, add cottage cheese or yogurt and 1 tsp. supplement mix.

This has got to be my all-time favorite fast food dog recipe. It’s so simple and you don’t need a million ingredients either! The set-up time is about 5 minutes, and the total time is about 15! It’s quicker than running to the pet store.

What You’ll Need:

1. Whole wheat flour (2 cups)
2. Chicken or beef broth (2/3 cup)
3. Large egg (1)
4. Quick cooking oats (3 tbsp.)

What To Do:

1. Crack your egg in a large mixing bowl, and beat lightly.
2. Next, stir in the chicken/beef broth.
3. Stir in your whole wheat flour.
4. Mix in the oats.
5. Spoon the dough onto a microwave safe plate, trying to keep it in round balls. (Leave some space between the balls so they don’t stick together.)
6. Microwave each plateful on high for 10 minutes.

That’s all there is to it! Easy, right? Just make sure to let the treats cool before serving to your Boston terrier!
